Tornado warning, severe thunderstorm warning in effect Saturday evening (updated)

The National Weather Service in Mt. Holly has issued a tornado warning that is in effect until 7:45 p.m. Saturday, April 1 for portions of Mercer County in New Jersey and Buck County in Pennsylvania. A tornado watch was upgraded to a tornado warning at about 6:45 p.m.

Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. A tornado warning means there is potential imminent danger. A tornado warning is issued when a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. When a tornado warning is issued, the National Weather Service recommends taking immediate action and moving to the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoiding windows.

A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for the Princeton region. The warning is in effect until 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1.

Wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour are possible, as is hail. Tree damage and downed power lines are possible.


A wind advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. on Sunday, April 2.

  1. I don’t know what’s up with this weather event but here in Millsboro./ Gumboro area it’s complete silence for 10-15 minutes followed by a light show of lightning.. and then à down pour of rain. Scary but exciting at the same time. Sincerely, Katherine Garonzik
