Princeton Shredfest returns Saturday, April 15

Dust off that obsolete computer equipment and pack up those documents you want to toss out, Princeton residents. Shredfest is back for Princeton residents only this Saturday, April 15.

From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., or until trucks are full, you can stop by the parking lot at Westminster Choir College at 101 Walnut Lane in Princeton and get rid of various kinds of household waste and papers.

Electronic waste including computers, monitors, printers, scanners, copiers, peripherals, cables, laptops, televisions, DVD and VCR players, stereo equipment, phones, radios, record players, boom boxes, fax machines, cell phones, large appliances, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and microwaves will be accepted.

Home medical equipment including canes, wheelchairs, seat cushions, crutches, portable ramps, hospital beds, walkers, grab bars, safety rails, hearing aids, and exercise bands and balls will also be accepted.


Broken items, small furniture, backyard play equipment, barbeques, and propane tanks will be accepted for disposal.

Do not bring rugs, carpeting, paint, chemicals, batteries, motor oil, railroad ties, asbestos, tires, oxygen tanks, wood, fencing, medical waste, household trash, couches, construction or remodeling debris, or mattresses and box springs. Some of these items can be disposed of during special county waste disposal days.

The following items will be upcycled:

  • Small batteries with tape added to both ends (Wireless Alliance)
  • Cellphones/smart tablets & accessories (Wireless Alliance)
  • Printer Cartridges (Wireless Alliance)
  • Block Styrofoam (Princeton Moulding)
  • Unusable metal-based pots, pans, and cutlery (TerraCycle)
  • Disposable razors, blades & packaging (TerraCycle)
  • Reusable shopping bags (Princeton Food Insecurity Task Force)

You can donate clean untorn clothes, coats, hats, gloves, scarves, belts, boots, shoes, work clothes, pots and pans, dishes, sheets, comforters, blankets, and tools that will all go to the Goodwill and find new homes.

Bicycles will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club Bike Exchange program.
