Task force to hold two public meetings about Princeton cannabis business recommendations

The Princeton Cannabis Task Force will host two public meetings to receive input from the public about the group’s proposed recommendation to the governing body to allow retail marijuana businesses to operate in commercially zoned areas.

The first meeting will be held tonight vias Zoom at 7 p.m. The second meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, in person, outside, weather permitting.

Possibly one micro license and two retail licenses will be allowed in Princeton. The task force has identified potential areas where dispensaries could be located. They include the Central Business District, the Jugtown area, Witherspoon Street, 206 North, and Princeton Shopping Center. Cannabis businesses cannot be located near schools.

Taskforce leaders hope the council will review an ordinance that would allow cannabis businesses to operate in Princeton as early as the second half of October. The council voted to opt out of allowing cannabis businesses in Princeton in August because the 23-member task force needed more time to come up with final recommendations.
