Rider University asking students and staff to shelter in place due to potential shooter threat (updated)

Update: At about 2:15 p.m., Rider University students and staff were told the campus was safe and were given the all clear to resume normal activities.

Rider University in Lawrence issued an alert to students and staff at 1:24 p.m. on Monday, April 3, telling them to shelter in place due to a potential threat. Police are investigating whether an active shooter is on campus.

“Rider has received a threat of an active shooter. Shelter in place. This is NOT a drill. Public Safety and Lawrence Township Police are investigating. Move indoors and stay away from windows. We will continue to provide updates.”
