The Princeton area received more than three inches of rain on Saturday evening. Police in Princeton reported that they had to respond two two water rescue calls. Flash flooding in Lower Makefield, Pa. swept up 11 vehicles. Four people are dead and first responders were still searching for an adult, a nine-month-old, and a two-year-old as of late Sunday morning.

A flash flood warning is in effect until 2:30 p.m. Sunday for the northwestern area of Middlesex County and the southeastern area of Somerset County

Do not drive cars through flooded areas. The water depth and road conditions may be unsafe.

Road Closures

Faculty Road, Washington Road, and the Great Road in Princeton are now open. Quaker Road is closed due to flooding (no surprise there). Christopher Drive between Rosedale Road and Walker Drive is closed due to flooding.

In Franklin Township, officials say to avoid the Canal Road area between Old Georgetown and Coppermine. The road is closed due to structural erosion for the foreseeable future.

Old Georgetown Road is closed between Canal Road and Stephen Drive due to a tree down in the roadway.

Butler Road is closed between Canal Road and Summer Cottage Lane due to flooding. Portions of Route 27 in Franklin Township were closed Saturday night due to extensive flooding.

Bennington Parkway is closed between Garden and Lynwood.

In Lawrence, Franklin Corner Road between the Franklin Arms Apartments at 161 Franklin Corner Road and Princess Road due to a wire and pole down.

In Montgomery, Mountainview Road is closed due to flooding and trees down.

In South Brunswick, New Road is closed at Pyne Road due to flooding. South Middlebush Road was open again but had to be closed down due to more flooding from rain Sunday. Middlebush is closed between Blackwells Road and Bennetts Lane.

Power has been restored to traffic lights on Route 27 in South Brunswick.

In West Windsor, Village Road West, South Post Road, Conover Road, Edinburg Road (CR526), New Village Road, and Old Trenton Road (CR 535) are either closed or could be down to one lane until 2 p.m. due to the New Jersey State Triathalon.
