Residents of Mercer County are urged to take advantage of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program as the deadline for applications approaches.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, June 30. The county will continue accepting applications for the Universal Service Fund Program throughout the year.

To be eligible for financial assistance with winter heating bills, Mercer County residents must pay their own heating costs and meet income guidelines. Those with medical conditions may also qualify for cooling assistance. Detailed income guidelines are available in both English and Spanish.

There are several ways to apply for home energy assistance. Residents can drop off their applications at the County Administration Building, Room 106, located at 640 South Broad St. in Trenton. In-person appointments can be scheduled by calling 609-337-0933 or emailing heatingappt@mercercounty.org.

Applications can be emailed to housing@mercercounty.org or faxed to 609-278-2758. Regular mail is also an option, and applications can be sent to The County of Mercer LIHEAP/USF Programs, 640 South Broad St., Room 106, P.O. Box 8068 Trenton, NJ 08650-0068.
