Second public meeting about Community Park design project set for Thursday, June 8

The second public engagement meeting for the Community Park South design project will take place at 7 p.m. this Thursday, June 8 in the main meeting room at the municipal building at 400 Witherspoon Street.

A consultant for the municipality will begin the meeting by presenting drafts of several different design concepts for improvements at Community Park South. The presentation by landscape and engineering design firm Suburban Consulting Engineers will be followed by a breakout session where smaller groups will give feedback about the design concepts.

Final concept plans will be presented at a recreation commission meeting in the summer or fall.

At a public forum in March, residents weighed in on various ideas for improvements to the 26-acre park and made their own suggestions. Sports field lighting, a permanent dog park, dedicated pickleball courts, restroom facilities, indoor multi-use sports facilities, an outdoor exercise facility with equipment, benches and seating areas, and additional parking are just some of the ideas for improvements at the park.
